Ubuntu Farmers Market Watermelon Festival

August 4 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Don’t Miss this Sunday’s Ubuntu Farmers Market as we Unapologetically reclaim and celebrate our history and Connection to our beloved Watermelon. 🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉
Fun facts:
– Watermelon originated in Africa
– King Tut’s tomb had watermelon seeds naturally preserved in his tomb.
– Post Emancipation African people grew, ate, and sold watermelons, and in doing so made the fruit a symbol of their freedom. Southern whites, threatened by blacks’ newfound freedom, responded by making the fruit a symbol of black people’s perceived uncleanliness, laziness, childishness and unwanted public presence.
